Carli

One of the first words that came to my mind when I thought of you was generous. You're so generous with your time, your love, your belongings, and your laughs.

I can't even fathom having teenagers raid the fridge every day consistently for years. You did it with a smile.

You are so quick to help anyone in need. I think back to moments in high school when I felt like the stress was going to kill me and you appeared like a magic helping fairy making everything go away.

When we went to Lake Powell, you could have gone out skiing on the boat with everyone else and showed them all up cause you're freaking awesome. But no, you stayed back with me and took me on, hands down, the funnest jet skiing ride I've ever been on. It wasn't a particularly wild ride, but I really appreciated you thinking of me and making sure I had fun. The gesture was priceless to me.

You are so good to the people you love and your actions show it so clearly. I'm so glad to have a friend like you. I know I have a fiercely loyal friend in you and I count myself lucky.

I love you and I hope your birthday is fantastic. You deserve it!

Megen

Happy birthday Megen dear. I'm going to write a list of things I like about you.
  • You laugh easily
  • You are not judgmental
  • You have a dry wit and good sense of humor
  • You are nice to everyone you ever meet
  • You're loyal
  • I want to look like you. Fun fact: I photoshopped the officer's pictures in our yearbook senior year--you know, whitening teeth, getting rid of dark circles under everyone's eyes, that sort of thing. I didn't have to touch yours. For real.
  • You ride a xooter like a thug.

I have a random model shot of you on my computer. No big deal.

Happy birthday! I hope it's the best ever and that Trent takes you somewhere nice. You are the bomb.

I know I'm two days late and for that I am sorry! But guess what, I still love you.

Hands down the best memory I have with you is at soccer camp senior year.
I honestly don't think I've laughed so hard as I did late that night when we stayed up in our beds talking forever. And like, I've laughed pretty freaking hard since then. Just not THAT hard. That is the caliber of the laughter of that night. If laughter were a gun, that night was a bazooka.
I also loved waking up in the morning and acting like meth-heads as we ate oreos/smeared them all over our mouths and danced. I honestly don't know how we even had time for soccer because we were acting like asshats the whole time.

I wonder if they make girls prettier than this...

You are always so funny and so light-hearted. You always know the right things to say to everyone to make their day. I think we're all pretty lucky to have a friend like you. Happy birthday m'dear!

my dearest jane

my dearest jane,
I sincerely suck and I ask for your forgiveness. (I don't even have a picture, I'm at work so yeah. But I'll do another post with pictures. Because I have some pretty fun ones)

HAPPY SOOO UNBELIEVABLY BELATED BIRTHDAY!

I seriously love you so much and just think the world of you. I honestly can't think of one person that does not like you. You get along with absolutely everyone and everyone absolutely loves you. I don't think I know someone with THE most hilarious/best sense of humor. Anything you write, any story you tell, I seriously end up with tears from laughing so hard. I really love how you don't pass any sort of judgement. I can not think of a time where I have ever heard you say something harsh about someone else.

I just love you and all your amazingness to death. but seriously. I'm sorry I'm so lame. This is so late it's not even funny. But I kind of feel like a chicken running around with it's head cut off at the moment. I mean this might as well have been a half birthday post. I'll pull it together at some point... hopefully.

LOVE YOU LOVE YOU LOVE YOU!

JaNe

Ok late I know. I just want you to know that I thought about you on your birthday and for the past week. I love you Jane. I am so grateful that we were in HAW together and our Senior year became such close friends. I will never forget our sleepovers, our little outtings, all our Haw projects and sitting in your car and chatting during lunch.
So when we were together alllll the time we wern't really the picture taking kind of people. So this is the only one I could find. In my opinion this one says it all. Thank you so much for putting up with my stressed out dramatic self all through senior year and thanks for being a friend that is always there all the time. Thank you for being funny, witty and bright. Thank you for your sweet personality and for having so much enthusiasm and excitement for life. Thanks for adding adventure and fun into every little detail. Thank you for making the boring times fun and the slow days fast. I love you Jane and I appreciate your friendship so much. I will always consider you one of my best friends and I want you to know that I look up to you in so many ways. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!

my motha always said, "Life begins when you're 21."

My dear dear Jane.

Let's just cut to the chase--I love you.  You are such a fun, driven, thoughtful, hilarious, creative, amazing, wonderful person.  Did I mention hilarious?  Any time spent with you is enjoyable.  And you are able to make anyone feel like a friend.  Saved texts from you dominate my inbox--all of them hilarious.

For example:
"Ah.  STD animals are very relevant to outer space though if you think about it . . . when you're on acid . . .With the amount of people with STDs, those actually probably will end up popular.  Like a morning after gift.  'Oops, I have the herp and now so do you.'"
"Yeah well you don't get quality tits from just anywhere.  The best stuff is found in Russia but they have to smuggle it in.  Or you can order them by mail."

There is a card on its way via postman that details better my love for you, but in the meantime I'd like to just illustrate some of my favorite memories:

Love you much my fellow centaur.

Sometimes I wonder if I'm retarded. Like, I'm pretty sure my mom would have told me if I was but sometimes I really wonder. Your birthday was over a month ago. I texted you and I totally remembered. And then I get on here and I totally just lost my brain and never said anything.

So yeah, little late. But here's the deal. I love you.

I think some of my favorite high school memories took place in your car. I remember driving around, listening to your music, driving at dangerously high speeds and laughing. I remember screaming out the windows HOLA CHICOOOO at motorcyclists and sitting in the trunk during a fire drill at highland. I remember this one time I was late for curfew and you gave me the keys to your car so I could get home.

Thinking about the jiberty got me thinking a little more about you as a person. I think you have got to be one of the most generous girls I've ever met. It says a lot about a person who is willing to just hand over the keys to her car just so her friend can get home.

1. The roads were awful-- it was snowing.
2. I didn't even have a license then.

Honestly, I don't know if I'd be that accommodating but you didn't even give it a second thought. I've been so impressed with you, especially these past couple years as you've been helping in India. You've been blessed to live the life you have but you don't take it for granted. You give back. I so look up to you and I feel pretty great being able to call you my friend.
So I guess this isn't so much a happy birthday post anymore as it is a I-think-you're-pretty-incredible post. But either way, happy belated birthday annnnd I think you're pretty incredible.

Summation: We're really pretty

So... confession time. When we were in middle school and the beginning of high school, I'd see you in the halls. I thought you were really mysterious and pretty and social. Whenever we'd cross paths, you'd always have a funny story to tell someone and I really really wanted you to be my friend but I was super shy. Basically I spent a few years wanting to be your friend and dress like you. Then, senior year we got to spend so much time together and it was like a dream come true.

Ever since then, I've always known I have a friend in you. You're always there for everyone. I think being a dependable friend is often an overlooked quality but you have it in spades. I've always admired how hard you work for the things you love and how you still manage to be such a good friend. Honestly, whenever I think I'm taking on too much, I think about you and your work ethic and say "Suck it up. Mallory does ten times more." You're so independent and strong and I am so proud to be able to call you my friend. I love you and I hope you had a great birthday and I hope no one made you eat a bunch of asian candy and forced you to drive up a canyon.

Twilight 4 aka Breaking Dawn aka Cinematic Gold

Have any of you ever wondered how much you would be willing to risk for true love? Have you ever considered what lengths you would go to, just to save the life of your own child? Could you even imagine trying to fight against some twisted dichotomy of your heart while enduring these other excruciating trials?

Have you ever thought about how hard it would be to be a heroine as amazing as Bella Swan? (Sorry, Bella Cullen.)

In order to truly understand these difficult questions, we eagerly went to the matinee showing of Twilight 4. Large drink and popcorn bucket (and maybe a few tissues) in hand. The air in theater was pungent with the aroma of anticipation, excitement, and a blend of at least 524* teenage girls' perfume.
*actual capacity of the theater. I called and asked.

Our seat mates couldn't have been more perfect. The girls behind us giggled and clapped with delight each time Jacob walked on to the screen.

"OMG. He is so hot" or "He is sooo sexy" or "I want to have his werewolf babies"... alright maybe I made that last one up.

The couple to our left was even better. Any time there was a declaration of love during the film (which, as you can imagine, happened quite frequently) they promptly began kissing and groping one another. For example, those of you who have read the book willl recall that Jacob imprints on Renesmee, the vampire baby whose unique name quality is reminiscent of a black woman named Raeshonda.

During this scene, the man turned to his girlfriend and said "I imprinted on you." She gasped at the romance of it all and they kissed for the next three minutes. It was a beautifully original sentiment and we were left envious that we did not have a man with as much passion as him.

And the children. What would a movie experience be without children walking in and out of a movie with scenes very inappropriate for their age? Two wandering kids periodically cried out "MOMMY!" searching for her in the audience and walked out when she ignored them.  There were also a few strollers in the aisles.

As for the actual movie, it was incredible. The wedding scene was exquisite, completed by ill-fitting brown and gold contact lenses on the vampires and an awkwardly intimate scene with the bride and her old pal Jacob. The honeymoon was also sufficiently awkward, with a very conspicuous lack of Edward's abdomen. Clearly the producers realized there would be no competing with Jacob's shirtless physique and opted to show lots of Edward's not very muscular back. I must say I was grateful for this because I was traumatized Edward's  glittering yet hairy chest  and stomach in New Moon.

Also, even though the majority of us knew what was going to happen next, the whole theater almost threw up together multiple times :
1. When Bella drank blood to feed her baby.
2. When Bella chose the name Renesmee.
3. During the sound effects of the seizure inducing birth scene (in which Edward bites the umbilical cord.  Thankfully, you don't see it but you can hear it. Oh, can you hear it...)

The entertainment value of this whole experience was priceless. I felt as though all of girl world had been united by the cinematic phenomenon.
We wouldn't have missed it for the world.
