Congratulations to the Future Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell

So, I am not really sure about why we haven't been using this fabulous little blog as of late, maybe we all forgot about it or something, but I think we should use it again because I feel so disconnected from the rest of you sometimes.
Saturday night was a busy stressful night for me, but it took a lovely turn for the better just as I was heading out to meet up with some friends. As I was walking away from my house, I got the best and most exciting phone call since last fall when I got a somewhat similar one from another one of us ladies.
Lizzy being engaged, did we all just know that was coming or what!? I think so! But, nevertheless, it is still the best news I have heard in a while.
I am so happy for Lizzy and Jake and I am so happy that I will get to be there for this wedding after having to miss Audrey's last spring.
I am so glad that all my favorite people are finding these wonderful eternal soul mates! I can't wait for the day when we can all say that we have found our other half.
You are all amazing, wonderful, beautiful women and I am so glad to call you my life long friends.
I think I can speak for all of us when I say, We love you Lizzy! We are so happy for you!!

P.S. I seriously love our group of friends! I miss you all! You are the best!

you're really old.

AUBREY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

My dearest ACE.  I am so, so, so happy that you were brought into this world those glorious 22 years ago.  You are one of the most loyal friends on the planet.  There has never been a time when I wanted to go have fun, or needed to talk, or even just needed a hug and you weren't there.  (And via phone counts, seeing as you've lived in Seattle the past 3 years.)  A great example of this is the night I said goodbye to Alex (or it was something around there . . . I can't quite remember the occasion, I just remember it had to do with Alex)--I needed comfort and you were there to just hug me and stroke my hair and tell me that everything was going to be alright.  On top of that, you have probably listened to me blab about dumb things more than anyone else, and you always always do it intently.  And despite how busy you've been in college, you are always willing to have a nice little phone chat to catch up.  You are always so bubbly and fun, and I know that I can always look to you for a good time.

Coming to visit you in Seattle was the highlight of my summer.  (Seriously.)  I really appreciate how much time you spent showing me around and everything despite upcoming finals . . . and the fact that you came and picked me up from the airport and escorted me back.  You are seriously the best.  And I loved everything we did!  Ah, it was such a blast and I don't know if I could ever thank you enough for such a wonderful experience.

Aubs, I love you so much.  You are such a generous, kind, loving, sweet, happy, energetic, optimistic, motivated, fascinating person.  I admire you so much for going up to Seattle for college and achieving all that you have.  You work so hard but yet you are never grumpy about it--rather you are there to lift everyone else up who probably doesn't have nearly as much stress/pressure as you do.  I am so impressed with all that you have done, and I cannot wait to see everything that you will do.  Have a wonderful, happy happy birthday.  Love you.

A vacation for Anna and her camera!

In case you didn't know, Anna and I just spent a long weekend frolicking around Seattle together. It was awesome!
When she told me she was buying a ticket to come visit me I basically freaked out. I was so excited to have a friend from home come to visit me so that I could show off all my favorite things about my city. Plus, it meant I got to take a little break from my studies and just hang out with Anna, which, let's be honest, we all want to do sometimes. Haha.
When she first got here, I gave her a little tour of my campus. She was obsessed with all the gardens and the weird but awesome plants we have all around. Then she came to a couple of my classes with me and got a small sense of what my professors and such are like.
We toured around Capitol Hill (the area right above downtown that I live in) and eventually worked our way down to the downtown area and, of course, Pike Place. Anna was so excited by everything. Her camera was whipped out every five seconds and I loved how thrilled she got by little things. She and I are very much the same in that way.
While at Pike's, we made sure to find the sandwich that Audrey had been raving about and I have to say, she was right, it was really good!
After that we rode the ferry and walked around a cute little town called Bainbridge on Bainbridge Island across the Sound. We ate ice cream and sat on a rooftop while talking and drinking coke from glass bottles. It was such a fun way to relax and catch up on everything I don't hear about that happens to all of you in Utah while I am up here.
We also went on the Underground Tour and we both got a little bit of an education about ow the city of Seattle was built. It was pretty cool, and our tour guide was awesome. His delivery of all their assigned jokes was really great and Anna and I both really enjoyed it.
After a lazy Sunday of church and relaxation, I sadly had to say goodbye to Anna and start thinking about my upcoming finals. Now I am freaking out about all I have to do in these next two weeks. It's Okay though, I will be home to see all of your lovely faces in just two weeks! That makes everything seem less daunting.
(For a full account of our fun times, see Anna's blog)

THANKS FOR THE VISIT ANNA IREANE MCKEAN!!! (haha) YOU ARE WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!

my "illness"

My brother told me that he and his roommates would often quote this scene from Seinfeld when they would get back from [unsuccessful] dates.  As James talked to me about how he felt . . . I realized it was the same thing with me (he referred to it as "our illness" last week).  So here's a little peek into my emotional state right now:

(This is also kinda just because we haven't had a post in a while and because I really just wanted to share this clip with somebody.  So yeah.)
