Congratulations to the Future Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell

So, I am not really sure about why we haven't been using this fabulous little blog as of late, maybe we all forgot about it or something, but I think we should use it again because I feel so disconnected from the rest of you sometimes.
Saturday night was a busy stressful night for me, but it took a lovely turn for the better just as I was heading out to meet up with some friends. As I was walking away from my house, I got the best and most exciting phone call since last fall when I got a somewhat similar one from another one of us ladies.
Lizzy being engaged, did we all just know that was coming or what!? I think so! But, nevertheless, it is still the best news I have heard in a while.
I am so happy for Lizzy and Jake and I am so happy that I will get to be there for this wedding after having to miss Audrey's last spring.
I am so glad that all my favorite people are finding these wonderful eternal soul mates! I can't wait for the day when we can all say that we have found our other half.
You are all amazing, wonderful, beautiful women and I am so glad to call you my life long friends.
I think I can speak for all of us when I say, We love you Lizzy! We are so happy for you!!

P.S. I seriously love our group of friends! I miss you all! You are the best!

you're really old.

AUBREY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

My dearest ACE.  I am so, so, so happy that you were brought into this world those glorious 22 years ago.  You are one of the most loyal friends on the planet.  There has never been a time when I wanted to go have fun, or needed to talk, or even just needed a hug and you weren't there.  (And via phone counts, seeing as you've lived in Seattle the past 3 years.)  A great example of this is the night I said goodbye to Alex (or it was something around there . . . I can't quite remember the occasion, I just remember it had to do with Alex)--I needed comfort and you were there to just hug me and stroke my hair and tell me that everything was going to be alright.  On top of that, you have probably listened to me blab about dumb things more than anyone else, and you always always do it intently.  And despite how busy you've been in college, you are always willing to have a nice little phone chat to catch up.  You are always so bubbly and fun, and I know that I can always look to you for a good time.

Coming to visit you in Seattle was the highlight of my summer.  (Seriously.)  I really appreciate how much time you spent showing me around and everything despite upcoming finals . . . and the fact that you came and picked me up from the airport and escorted me back.  You are seriously the best.  And I loved everything we did!  Ah, it was such a blast and I don't know if I could ever thank you enough for such a wonderful experience.

Aubs, I love you so much.  You are such a generous, kind, loving, sweet, happy, energetic, optimistic, motivated, fascinating person.  I admire you so much for going up to Seattle for college and achieving all that you have.  You work so hard but yet you are never grumpy about it--rather you are there to lift everyone else up who probably doesn't have nearly as much stress/pressure as you do.  I am so impressed with all that you have done, and I cannot wait to see everything that you will do.  Have a wonderful, happy happy birthday.  Love you.

A vacation for Anna and her camera!

In case you didn't know, Anna and I just spent a long weekend frolicking around Seattle together. It was awesome!
When she told me she was buying a ticket to come visit me I basically freaked out. I was so excited to have a friend from home come to visit me so that I could show off all my favorite things about my city. Plus, it meant I got to take a little break from my studies and just hang out with Anna, which, let's be honest, we all want to do sometimes. Haha.
When she first got here, I gave her a little tour of my campus. She was obsessed with all the gardens and the weird but awesome plants we have all around. Then she came to a couple of my classes with me and got a small sense of what my professors and such are like.
We toured around Capitol Hill (the area right above downtown that I live in) and eventually worked our way down to the downtown area and, of course, Pike Place. Anna was so excited by everything. Her camera was whipped out every five seconds and I loved how thrilled she got by little things. She and I are very much the same in that way.
While at Pike's, we made sure to find the sandwich that Audrey had been raving about and I have to say, she was right, it was really good!
After that we rode the ferry and walked around a cute little town called Bainbridge on Bainbridge Island across the Sound. We ate ice cream and sat on a rooftop while talking and drinking coke from glass bottles. It was such a fun way to relax and catch up on everything I don't hear about that happens to all of you in Utah while I am up here.
We also went on the Underground Tour and we both got a little bit of an education about ow the city of Seattle was built. It was pretty cool, and our tour guide was awesome. His delivery of all their assigned jokes was really great and Anna and I both really enjoyed it.
After a lazy Sunday of church and relaxation, I sadly had to say goodbye to Anna and start thinking about my upcoming finals. Now I am freaking out about all I have to do in these next two weeks. It's Okay though, I will be home to see all of your lovely faces in just two weeks! That makes everything seem less daunting.
(For a full account of our fun times, see Anna's blog)

THANKS FOR THE VISIT ANNA IREANE MCKEAN!!! (haha) YOU ARE WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!

my "illness"

My brother told me that he and his roommates would often quote this scene from Seinfeld when they would get back from [unsuccessful] dates.  As James talked to me about how he felt . . . I realized it was the same thing with me (he referred to it as "our illness" last week).  So here's a little peek into my emotional state right now:

(This is also kinda just because we haven't had a post in a while and because I really just wanted to share this clip with somebody.  So yeah.)

Carli

One of the first words that came to my mind when I thought of you was generous. You're so generous with your time, your love, your belongings, and your laughs.

I can't even fathom having teenagers raid the fridge every day consistently for years. You did it with a smile.

You are so quick to help anyone in need. I think back to moments in high school when I felt like the stress was going to kill me and you appeared like a magic helping fairy making everything go away.

When we went to Lake Powell, you could have gone out skiing on the boat with everyone else and showed them all up cause you're freaking awesome. But no, you stayed back with me and took me on, hands down, the funnest jet skiing ride I've ever been on. It wasn't a particularly wild ride, but I really appreciated you thinking of me and making sure I had fun. The gesture was priceless to me.

You are so good to the people you love and your actions show it so clearly. I'm so glad to have a friend like you. I know I have a fiercely loyal friend in you and I count myself lucky.

I love you and I hope your birthday is fantastic. You deserve it!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CARLI!! I honestly don't even know where to start with this...you are my other half. I love all of our memories together. Whether we are being super spontaneous and going on a last minute get-a-way to palm springs or bringing back our cheerleading skills at one in the morning, you always make life fun! You mean more to me than you know and I am so blessed to have you as my best friend! And since I'm not very good at the blogger world and don't know how to write...i'll show my love for you through pictures :) happy birthday!!!

CARLI SCHNEIDERRRR!!!!!
[pretend that one guy from your campaign is saying that.]

So, I don't know if you were aware, but . . . . it's your birthday.  (I know you're not really a huge fan of your birthday, but you'll just have to deal with it.)  And I am so excited to get to talk about all of the reasons why I am so grateful to have you as one of my very best friends.  Your zeal for life makes everyone around you happier.  I know that I can always count on you for fun and adventures.  You have a knack for bringing people together and supporting your friends.  You always have such great ideas and look to include everyone.  (I’ve told you this before, but last semester was so sad without you.)  I always have such a great time being with you and talking to you.  Your generous, happy heart makes you a valuable friend to all of us.

Some favorite memories include:
  • Scootering to Shop N Go
  • Every lunch at your house
  • Summer nights in your backyard
  • Fantastic Four at the drive in
  • Playing the animal game on your diving board
  • Pancakes on Sunday
  • Lion King (I’m sooo happy you made it)
  • Napping in the Boboli Gardens
  • Curses
  • Hires in general
  • That night when we played Marry-Kiss-Kill for hours
  • The Jazz game
  • Shores class (and he loved you 10x more than he loved me)
  • Skyping with you until 3 a.m. while you were in Hawaii
  • The night you made fun of my for  my camping “study abroad”
  • When we took your old man mask and scared people

Honestly, everything we’ve done together is so much fun.  The majority of my best memories involve you.

So happy birthday my dear Carla!!!  You are the best.  Ever.

M.M.M.

Megen McConkie Morgan!!!

Happy 21st birthday a few days late! I hope you had a glorious wonderful birthday!
I can't really tell you how glad I am that we are friends because I don't think my words would fully be able to do my reasons justice. I love you so much though and I want you to know how amazing you are!
You have the biggest and best smile I have ever seen and you are probably the kindest person I know. You have a huge heart and you let everyone into it with no questions asked.
I am so glad that you found Trent! He truly is your other half because he has a smile almost good enough to match yours and he is also a truly kind person with a very big heart.
I miss you! I know I am horrible at staying in contact throughout the year but I love whenever I do get to catch up with you.
I love you M to the power of 3! You are a wonderful person and I am so thankful to have you in my life! Keep smiling and being the great person you are and hopefully this year will be even better than your last 20 years of life! Love you!!

Megen

Happy birthday Megen dear. I'm going to write a list of things I like about you.
  • You laugh easily
  • You are not judgmental
  • You have a dry wit and good sense of humor
  • You are nice to everyone you ever meet
  • You're loyal
  • I want to look like you. Fun fact: I photoshopped the officer's pictures in our yearbook senior year--you know, whitening teeth, getting rid of dark circles under everyone's eyes, that sort of thing. I didn't have to touch yours. For real.
  • You ride a xooter like a thug.

I have a random model shot of you on my computer. No big deal.

Happy birthday! I hope it's the best ever and that Trent takes you somewhere nice. You are the bomb.
