carla

Carli

One of the first words that came to my mind when I thought of you was generous. You're so generous with your time, your love, your belongings, and your laughs.

I can't even fathom having teenagers raid the fridge every day consistently for years. You did it with a smile.

You are so quick to help anyone in need. I think back to moments in high school when I felt like the stress was going to kill me and you appeared like a magic helping fairy making everything go away.

When we went to Lake Powell, you could have gone out skiing on the boat with everyone else and showed them all up cause you're freaking awesome. But no, you stayed back with me and took me on, hands down, the funnest jet skiing ride I've ever been on. It wasn't a particularly wild ride, but I really appreciated you thinking of me and making sure I had fun. The gesture was priceless to me.

You are so good to the people you love and your actions show it so clearly. I'm so glad to have a friend like you. I know I have a fiercely loyal friend in you and I count myself lucky.

I love you and I hope your birthday is fantastic. You deserve it!

CARLI SCHNEIDERRRR!!!!!
[pretend that one guy from your campaign is saying that.]

So, I don't know if you were aware, but . . . . it's your birthday.  (I know you're not really a huge fan of your birthday, but you'll just have to deal with it.)  And I am so excited to get to talk about all of the reasons why I am so grateful to have you as one of my very best friends.  Your zeal for life makes everyone around you happier.  I know that I can always count on you for fun and adventures.  You have a knack for bringing people together and supporting your friends.  You always have such great ideas and look to include everyone.  (I’ve told you this before, but last semester was so sad without you.)  I always have such a great time being with you and talking to you.  Your generous, happy heart makes you a valuable friend to all of us.

Some favorite memories include:
  • Scootering to Shop N Go
  • Every lunch at your house
  • Summer nights in your backyard
  • Fantastic Four at the drive in
  • Playing the animal game on your diving board
  • Pancakes on Sunday
  • Lion King (I’m sooo happy you made it)
  • Napping in the Boboli Gardens
  • Curses
  • Hires in general
  • That night when we played Marry-Kiss-Kill for hours
  • The Jazz game
  • Shores class (and he loved you 10x more than he loved me)
  • Skyping with you until 3 a.m. while you were in Hawaii
  • The night you made fun of my for  my camping “study abroad”
  • When we took your old man mask and scared people

Honestly, everything we’ve done together is so much fun.  The majority of my best memories involve you.

So happy birthday my dear Carla!!!  You are the best.  Ever.

Megs

Happy birthday to one of my favorite people around! I am so glad that we met all those years ago on the tennis court. Even though the first year on the team we didn't talk to each other that much we were still together. But come sophomore year and you couldn't separate us out there! I loved spending those times with you; laughing at Sharon, loving Kathy, our lessons at the U, playing games on friday, dealing with all the drama, and even you passing out once or twice :) But more then any of those things I am happy for the friendship that came out of those times.
I have spent countless hours in the McConkie basement laughing and playing. You come from the best family. I love the car drives I spent with you and especially being there for the beginning of you and Trent. Still so happy that all worked out...you two could not be more perfect for each other.
Meg you are always supportive and willing to listen to anything I have to say. I love that laugh of yours and the giant smile! It makes me happy every time I get to spend a little time with you!

Remember that time we jumped in the fountain at the U

I loved this night

The most beautiful bride

I hope you are having the best 21st birthday girl

Happy Birthday Lizzy!

Well, I think this is about the 7th post on all social media outlets that I have done for you today so sorry if it sounds a little repetitive. Words cannot describe how much I love you. I do not know what I would do without you. I love spending everyday with you and missing you after an hour apart and texting you when we aren't together (sometimes when we are together). I love that you know more about me then anyone else. Thanks for everything you do!

XOXO

Miss Mal Bell

It is finally your turn to be the Birthday girl! And since you are the one that started this wonderful tradition your birthday posts should probably be the best yet! I cannot say enough good things about you. In high school if I ever needed a laugh I definitely came to you! I am super glad I joined the journalism team senior year so I could be apart of your guy's little group of wandering the halls and ditching class haha!
This is probably the MOST random picture ever haha so I had to put it in!

Since high school I have been impressed with the things you have done especially New York. Way to stick that one out girl! I was so proud! I am so happy I was able to spend a little bit of your big day with you! 21 years...should we hit the clubs this weekend?
I can't wait for you to be in Provo! We are going to have such a great time showing you guys the ropes down here!

Greetings from the East Coast

As most of you probably know since I have advertised it everywhere...I ran a half-marathon! Yes, I am very proud of myself and you should be too. haha I never thought I would do it but I did and I even finished faster then I ever thought. Wahoo!!
Other than that my only news is that I get home in 3 weeks! Time has seriously flown and I can't believe it is over. My next adventure is attempting to stay in Utah for more than 3 months. We will see how that one goes! I will be accepting bets on this matter.
I feel like everyone is always sharing funny stories on here and I don't feel like I have too many. I laugh to much in a day to share it all plus you can just be directed to my blog where most of my pointless stories are recorded.
I am still answering phones and being yelled at about how the dirty republicans are the Nazi party of America. (Meg you would probably love this job haha) Or parents calling and asking what Chinese language their child should learn so he can become an astronaut.
Pretty much life is good and treating me well. There are multiple occurrences a day that make me giggle. I am going to be sad to leave my new home but can't wait to return home to all of you!

And in case you were wondering I am writing this post at work. You wouldn't think so but working in a government office can get boring just in case any of you were thinking of doing this for a living.

Date A Girl Who Reads

Kacey posted this on her blog and I thought it was pretty cute so naturally I had to share it with all of you. It is a little long but read it, you will love it.
Date A Girl Who Reads
Date a girl who reads. Date a girl who spends her money on books instead of clothes. She has problems with closet space because she has too many books. Date a girl who has a list of books she wants to read, who has had a library card since she was twelve.
Find a girl who reads. You’ll know that she does because she will always have an unread book in her bag. She’s the one lovingly looking over the shelves in the bookstore, the one who quietly cries out when she finds the book she wants. You see the weird chick sniffing the pages of an old book in a second hand book shop? That’s the reader. They can never resist smelling the pages, especially when they are yellow.
She’s the girl reading while waiting in that coffee shop down the street. If you take a peek at her mug, the non-dairy creamer is floating on top because she’s kind of engrossed already. Lost in a world of the author’s making. Sit down. She might give you a glare, as most girls who read do not like to be interrupted. Ask her if she likes the book.
Buy her another cup of coffee.
Let her know what you really think of Murakami. See if she got through the first chapter of Fellowship. Understand that if she says she understood James Joyce’s Ulysses she’s just saying that to sound intelligent.  Ask her if she loves Alice or she would like to be Alice.
It’s easy to date a girl who reads. Give her books for her birthday, for Christmas and for anniversaries. Give her the gift of words, in poetry, in song. Give her Neruda, Pound, Sexton, Cummings. Let her know that you understand that words are love. Understand that she knows the difference between books and reality but, she’s going to try to make her life a little like her favorite book. It will never be your fault if she does.
She has to give it a shot somehow.
Lie to her. If she understands syntax, she will understand your need to lie. Behind words are other things: motivation, value, nuance, dialogue. It will not be the end of the world.
Fail her. Because a girl who reads knows that failure always leads up to the climax. Because girls who understand that all things will come to end. That you can always write a sequel. That you can begin again and again and still be the hero. That life is meant to have a villain or two.
Why be frightened of everything that you are not? Girls who read understand that people, like characters, develop. Except in the Twilight series.
If you find a girl who reads, keep her close. When you find her up at 2 AM clutching a book to her chest and weeping, make her a cup of tea and hold her. You may lose her for a couple of hours but she will always come back to you. She’ll talk as if the characters in the book are real, because for a while, they always are.
You will propose on a hot air balloon. Or during a rock concert. Or very casually next time she’s sick. Over Skype.
You will smile so hard you will wonder why your heart hasn’t burst and bled out all over your chest yet. You will write the story of your lives, have kids with strange names and even stranger tastes. She will introduce your children to the Cat in the Hat and Aslan, maybe in the same day. You will walk the winters of your old age together and she will recite Keats under her breath while you shake the snow off your boots.
Date a girl who reads because you deserve it. You deserve a girl who can give you the most colorful life imaginable. If you can only give her monotony, and stale hours and half-baked proposals, then you’re better off alone. If you want the world and the worlds beyond it, date a girl who reads.
Or better yet, date a girl who writes.

Anna Banana

No one is a better friend than you. You always keep in touch with everyone and I am always amazed at how you can know what every single person is up to. Not only that but you are always sincere and genuine. I never feel like you are asking me how my day was out of obligation but because you actually care to hear the answer.

I think we can all agree that without Anna we would not see each other as often as we do, talk as much, and know what everyone has been doing lately. Thank you Anna for keeping our small group connected. I do not know where I would be without you and I am so thankful that you and I had US History with Shores in 8th grade and that you invited me to your birthday party.

I miss you everyday! I can't wait to be reunited with you! I love you birthday girl. No one deserves this more than you!

Campaigning

Hey all!
Sorry I haven't been too good at posting or commenting but I am reading all the posts and they always give me a good laugh. So here is a story of my own:

Today I went to Delaware, yes Delaware. I had to be up at 7:30 this morning then drove 2 hours to a town festival in Milford Delaware. I was helping campaign for our one and only Mitt Romney. He had to get 500 signatures to be put on the primary ballot. So I walked around this cute town festival asking all kinds of people if they were republican. The dialogue went a little something like this:
me: "Excuse me, are you a registered republican voter?"

The answers to this question varied:
person: "Yes I am can we please get the democrats out of there?"
Usually with an American flag on their shirt

person: "haha you wash your mouth out little lady for asking me that question"
These people were an old couple that looked like republicans

person: "I am a felon and can't vote" (one of my personal favorites)
         All the tattoo folk

person: "Is he that mormon guy? Well I like Perry"
People sitting on their lawn chairs while eating hotdogs and drinking beers

person: "I am a democrat but wished I was republican"
            Old grandma's and grandpa's

person: "I am an independent" (otherwise known as I'm not signing anything)
Everything else you could think of

Well I ended up with 21 signature and as a group we had 250 so I felt pretty good about it. And the best news was that along the way I got plenty of business cards to host jewelry parties, entered countless contests (none of which I won), and got to people watch till 5:00 at night.
